Criteria for Applicants:

1. Scholarships are open to female Shasta Community College students in support of the AAUW mission but are otherwise granted without regard to age, race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.

2. Applicants with transfer majors in all disciplines are eligible.

3. Priority is given to full-time students, although part-time students will be considered.

4. Applicants must either be continuing their education at a 4-year, accredited college/university as full-time juniors or seniors during the next academic year OR applicants must have completed their AA Degree, or equivalent, by May of 2024 and be continuing on to an accredited, approved certificate program (such as Nursing, Dental Hygienist, Physical Therapist, Respiratory Therapist, or Ultra-Sound Tech) during the next academic year. Applicants can also be continuing their education in the concentrated, accelerated, accredited degree completion programs offered by National University or Simpson University.

5. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Academic record, leadership roles, community/school involvement, work/internship experience, awards/honors, educational and career goals, personal statement, interview, financial need, and letters of recommendation all factor into selection of scholarship recipient(s).

6. Consideration is given to financial need.

7. Interview is required.

8. Scholarships are granted on an objective basis, using an established scoring rubric for each applicant. Scoring information can be found in the application information file.

9. Recipients of scholarships must notify the AAUW Redding Branch of any change in address/contact info, school enrollment plans, or other relevant information affecting selection prior to awarding of scholarships or before the beginning of the next academic term.

10. Recipients of scholarships must email a short paragraph indicating how the scholarship was used to help achieve their academic goals and attach an unofficial transcript showing their completion of the fall 2024 term by January 31st 2025 to scholarshipsaauw@gmail.com

11. Relatives of AAUW Redding Branch officers, directors, or Education Committee members in a given year are not eligible to apply for scholarships that same year.

NOTE:

The Letter of Recommendation template form can be found on the same Scholarship Opportunities page that the application is located. Please download the provided PDF file for your Letters of Recommendation and send them to your references. Your references should email the completed Letter of Recommendation to scholarshipsaauw@gmail.com. It is recommended that one of your Letters of Recommendation come from a faculty member such as a professor, advisor, or administrator, and the other comes from a community member such as an employer, minister, coach, or former teacher.
