Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference

Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference

The mission of the Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference (SCLC) is to promote the forest products industry by providing true-life educational experiences that showcase the work of contemporary natural resource professionals and businesses related to logging and forest management.

The Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference is guided and supported by a Board of Directors that represents a diverse combination of industries that include: timberland, logging, forestry, trucking, banking, energy, lumber, fuel, construction, equipment, supply, engineering, insurance and consulting.

The conference serves the forest products industry and its many suppliers operating in the geographic area known as the Sierra-Cascade region; traveling along the Southern Cascades from near Klamath Falls Oregon down “The Backbone of California” (the Sierra Mountains) through South Lake Tahoe, Yosemite and Sequoia national parks, across the San Joaquin Valley and up the Pacific Coast Range into southern Oregon near Grants Pass.

The Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference supports resource related education programs for elementary schools, high schools and teachers from throughout California. In addition, we host an In-Woods Forest Harvest Demonstration during the month of May, as well as an Education Day, Logging Sports Demonstration, Wildlife Show and FFA Forestry Competition during the conference each February. We offer Scholarship opportunities to graduating high school students and continuing college students majoring in Agriculture, Natural Resources, Industrial Technology or a related field.

We believe our programs are valuable and contribute to the economic vitality of the communities across our region. As a result of our events, students, teachers and community members will share an improved understanding of our forestlands, recognize the importance of maintaining sustainable and healthy forests, become aware of career opportunities available in natural resources and learn how managed forests provide a variety of wood products, wildlife habitats and watershed values.

The SCLC directors, chairpersons, sponsors, firm and individual members share the following goals:
> Promote good will and good logging through education, demonstration and involvement
> Encourage respect for the industries Afford opportunities to exhibit the latest equipment and supplies available to the industry

> Advocate a positive image of logging and the forest products industry through education
> Host social events that encourage camaraderie and foster long lasting friendships
