Peggy Mallory

The Shasta College Early Childhood Education (ECE) program is pleased to announce an annual scholarship for ECE majors. This opportunity is generously funded by the CA Cascade Association for the Education of Young Children (CCAEYC), a local chapter of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the largest membership organization of early childhood professionals in the world.

Peggy Mallory was the founder of Shasta Head Start, which opened in 1965 and as of 2015 has served over 35,000 children in Shasta County. She went on to create Secret Garden Preschool in Redding which she owned for 20 years. Her pioneering leadership earned her the “Stand By Me” award in 2015. Peggy is alive and well at age 90! It is our great pleasure to honor her legacy with this scholarship.
