Lt. Helen A. and Col. Augustus J.D. Guenther Memorial

Col. Augustus J.D. Guenther (U.S. Army, Medical Service Corps) set up a scholarship fund in honor of Lt. Helen A. Guenther (U.S. Army, Nurse corps) whom he met in Northern Africa during World War II. Both she and he were bronze star recipients. This scholarship was originally set up with the Shasta County Military Officers Association of America and administered by them. The scholarship is being continued with Shasta College at the request of their four children and SCMOAA to continue supporting the education of veterans and their children.
